The project, Traces of Movement, was for a sculptural installation in the Lichthalle inside the Städelschule. The project was part of the programme for Frankurt Positions in 2003. Traces of Movement was based on a simple particle streaming modelling processes that presented excess geometric information. This was subsequently filtered to register deformations such as contractions, releases and rotational moments.
The design presented a collection of wing-like figures hung in a constellation as if they rose or fell through the space. This ‘fragmented’ envelope, though carefully calculated by means of computational processes, traced the vague anticipation of a movement, an imaginary fall or a fluttering rise, of which one can only behold fragmentary moments.
