THE AIV Master thesis prize
The AIV Master Thesis Prize was introduced in 2013 to celebrate the best Master Thesis project at SAC each year. The prize statutes reflect the goals of the programme: To see an excellent architectural design proposal that makes a contribution to the state of the discipline and is firmly and clearly based on the experimental research that the candidate has produced throughout the year.
The prize was established on the initiative of the Architekten und Ingenieur Verein e.V. - Frankfurt (AIV). The association of architects and engineers generously finances the prize and also contributes financially to the annual issue of the SAC Journal that documents the finalist projects.
The prize comes with a €3.000 award, and a jury that consists of representatives of the AIV and SAC faculty members meets in September to make its selection. Filtered by the final academic grades, a group of the Master Thesis projects presented for End-of-Year reviews in July comprises the prize finalists. At the discretion of the jury, a winner is chosen or the prize is split between two projects with the option of naming honourable mentions.
The jury's decision and the prize ceremony make a highlight during SAC's graduation ceremony in mid-October each year.
