OLE SCHEEREN – CONNECTIVE ARCHITECTURE(S)

26 June 2014 19:00 pm - Städelschule Aula

German born architect Ole Scheeren is founder and principal of Buro Ole Scheeren with offices in Beijing and Hong Kong. Prior to launching his own firm, he was partner of Dutch Architect Rem Koolhaas at OMA and in charge of the CCTV Headquarters in Beijing.

Connectivity is a major recurring theme in Ole Scheeren’s work and life: to connect people with architecture, to connect architecture to cities, but also to connect cultures. After more than a decade of working and living in Asia, Ole Scheeren is re-engaging in Europe, to explore opportunities for knowledge transfer and sharing of experience. With projects ranging from a 268 meter tall landmark building in the center of Kuala Lumpur; a large-scale urban development, DUO, in Singapore; to a studio/gallery building for a Beijing-based artist and the new headquarters for China’s oldest art auction house in Beijing, Ole Scheeren extends his pursuit and interest in connectivity at different scales through innovative organizational structures.
