ASTERIOS AGKATHIDIS: FORM, PERFORMANCE AND AESTHETICS

Asterios Agkathidis is an architect and educator. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Asterios studied architecture in Thessaloniki and the RWTH Aachen, completing his postgraduate studies in Advanced Architectural Design at the SAC in 2001. He became a partner in the architectural practice b&k+ in Cologne until 2004, then at VMX architects, Amsterdam until 2005. He later founded the architecture and research laboratory a3lab Frankfurt-Thessaloniki. His work has been published and exhibited widely.

In his lecture, Asterios will attempt to cast light into the complex relationship between from, performance and aesthetics through his past to present realised projects and his on going research.

His teaching experiences include the AdBK Nuremberg, TU Darmstadt, University of Thessaloniki and the International Islamic University Malaysia. He was Visiting Assistant Professor at the Lebanese American University and Senior Lecturer at Raffles Design Institute Shanghai. Today he is program director for the postgraduate MA in architecture at the University of Liverpool.
